DMC Industry-Academic Promotion Foundation Holds 2nd DMC Industry-Academic Promotion Awards Ceremony

The DMC Industry-Academic Promotion Foundation (Chairman Koh Hong-seok) announced on  the 26th that it held the '2nd DMC Industry-Academic Promotion Awards Ceremony' on the 20th.

The DMC Industry-Academic Promotion Awards, which were established to spread cases of cooperative growth and achievements among the Sangam DMC region industry, academia, research institutes, and public institutions, are in their 2nd year this year.

DMC is an innovation cluster where various entities work together to combine each other's strengths and carry out innovative projects, forming an industrial ecosystem where digital media and technology industries converge.
 

In order to encourage exemplary cases of cooperative growth and share the results so that various industries such as broadcasting, video, and IT as well as various entities from industry, academia, research, and government can promote further development through cooperation and convergence, a recommendation notice was issued and, through the public review committee, 1 Grand Prize, 2 Technology Innovation Awards, 1 Research Innovation Award, 1 Job Innovation Award, and 2 Special Service Awards were selected.

With around 100 people from industry, academia, research, and government in attendance, the event opened with an opening speech by DMC Industry-Academia Promotion Foundation Chairman Koh Hong-seok and a congratulatory address by Seoul Metropolitan Government Economic Policy Office Economic Job Planning Director Song Ho-jae, along with the purpose of the event, which is for people with different backgrounds and experiences to come together to create new connections and achieve things that cannot be achieved on their own.

First, DMC Industry-Academia Promotion Foundation Strategic Planning Team Leader Kim Yu-hwa presented the foundation's activities in 2023 and major projects for 2024. This was followed by a presentation on 'AI prediction model applied to the entire life cycle including product launch, production, distribution, and discontinuation' by Suho Ahn, head of Impactive AI, the winner of the 2023 DMC Innovation Camp Startup Competition, and a presentation on 'tedaid, a wearable bio-monitoring device' by Seong Eun Kim, CSO of WisMedical.

The DMC Industry-Academic Cooperation Award selects excellent cases in each sector of technological innovation, research innovation, and job innovation, and selects the best case across all fields. The grand prize for the 2nd DMC Industry-Academic Cooperation Award went to Lee Mi-ae (Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, Career and Vocational Education Department/Scholarship Officer). She was honored with the DMC Industry-Academic Cooperation Award in recognition of her contributions to providing career exploration and employment opportunities and resolving the manpower shortage for DMC companies while serving as a bridgehead connecting broadcasting and video-related specialized high schools and DMC. 

In the technological innovation category, CR Media Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Tae-yong) and Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital (Director Han Seung-ho of Ewha Medical Academy) achieved technological and commercialization innovation through industry-academia-research cooperation activities, and Associate Professor Kwon Du-young (Department of Convergence Design, Graduate School of Seoul Media University) contributed to the revitalization of DMC through DMC-related research and education. 

In the job innovation sector, Director Kang Jeon-hee (Jongno Women's Human Resources Development Center Employment Service Division) was awarded for her contribution to the DMC Job Innovation Platform Operation Council activities and the provision of human resources training and employment services for the development of the DMC cluster. 

In the special service sector, the Korea Broadcasting and Video Production Association (Chairman Kim Tae-yong), which is leading the way in industry-tailored human resources training and has worked to improve the DMC job ecosystem along with protecting corporate rights, and the Mapo-gu Employment Welfare Support Center (Chairman Hong Jin-joo), which has led the way in solving the mismatch between job seekers and recruiters in the region and in integrated employment and welfare practices, were awarded. 

In the networking event that followed the awards ceremony, people from various fields such as industry, academia, and public institutions gathered to enjoy icebreaking and lucky draw events, and a forum was provided to share opinions for free networking, future development, and new cooperation in 2024. 

DMC Industry-Academic Promotion Foundation Chairman Koh Hong-seok said, “We will continue to play a pivotal role in building networks between institutions. Based on this year’s Phase 1 infrastructure, system, and networking construction and pilot project-based foundation laying, we will actively promote fostering creative talent, job networking, and corporate discovery and growth leap support through Phase 2 process construction and systematization starting in 2024.” 

Song Ho-jae, Director of Economic and Job Planning at the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Economic Policy Office, said, “Through exchanges and cooperation, DMC’s representative keywords of digital, media, and content will be connected and converged in various ways, and DMC will be reborn as a metropolitan industrial platform beyond a regional industrial hub,” adding, “Seoul will support and join Sangam DMC in its innovation and development.”
